Biography:

Michael Lizotte, Ph.D. is the University Sustainability Officer at UNC Charlotte since 2013. He teaches for the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. His work since joining UNC Charlotte has focused on planning, building design standards, waste management, transportation, curriculum, events, and assessment. He has 20 years of experience as an administrator for research organizations and sustainability programs, and 30 years of experience teaching Ecology, Environmental Studies and Sustainability Management. In a research career studying the ecology of algae, he made twelve trips to Antarctica and one to the Arctic. Lizotte Creek in Antarctica was named in his honor.
