Christine Haynes

Biography:

Christine Haynes, Ph.D., educated at the University of Michigan and the University of Chicago, is an expert in modern European, especially French, history. She has written widely about the political, military, economic, and cultural history of France, particularly in the aftermath of the French Revolution and Napoleon. Her most recent book is “Our Friends the Enemies: The Occupation of France After Napoleon.” To research this book, she spent the 2013-14 academic year in Strasbourg, France, (capital of the European Union) on a Fulbright Research Fellowship. Haynes has taught about the history of Franco-American relations and closely follows current news from France and Europe.
