Biography:
Tehia Starker Glass, Ph.D., is an associate professor of Elementary Education and Educational Psychology in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education in the Cato College of Education. Her research interests include preparing preservice and inservice teachers’ culturally responsive teaching self-efficacy, anti-racism curriculum development, culturally responsive classroom management and exploring how caregivers and teachers discuss race with children. She has published in the Journal of Urban Education, Teachers College Record and other high-tier journals.Currently, she is working on her academic book and children’s book to assist caregivers and teachers to have conversations about race with children.
Starker Glass’ teaching background spans K-12 through higher education. She has taught both in the United States and overseas. The majority of her U.S. teaching experiences have been in urban and/or Title I elementary schools. While in higher education, Starker Glass has taught courses in educational technology, multicultural education, principles of college teaching, educational psychology, child development, curriculum design and introduction to teaching. She teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and co-designed and is the director of a four-course Anti-Racism in Urban Education Graduate Certificate program.
