Biography:
Robert S. Keynton is dean of The William States Lee College of Engineering. He is an internationally regarded expert in the application of micro/nanotechnologies to the biomedical field and considered a leading authority in the fabrication and characterization of biopolymer fibers for 3D oriented microvascular structures. He is a nationally-recognized leader in the development and implementation of translational research programs to transform scientific innovations into commercial products. He has 17 issued patents and has co-founded 4 start-up companies based on these technologies created by him and his collaborators. He has been elected a Fellow in the American Institute for Medical & Biological Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Society and National Academy of Inventors. His work has been published in leading journals in the areas of micro/nano fabrication processes and devices; micro/nano systems for biological and chemical separations, detection and sensing; biomaterials; Big Data; polymeric-based fabrication techniques for the creation of medical devices and tissue engineered scaffolds; drug delivery systems; and, cardiovascular mechanics.
